Eyjafjallajokul the Volcano.

Anybody seen this photo? I've seen it in several different places on the Internet. This photo is awesome. Lightning is such a fascinating phenomenon...or maybe I just think so after living with a firefighter for so long :).

Anyway...I went to high school with the guy who took this amazing picture. He blogged about the photo HERE. Check it out, plus, some of his other pictures HERE.

No, really. Click on the links. Make me happy. Make yourself happy.

Tracey's Second Surgery

Tracey's second arm surgery was a success! It's wonderful how God answers prayer. She will not need the third surgery that the doctor originally told us she would need.

She had no pain this time. They injected a different type of medicine this time, one that wasn't quite so aggressive.

I also did much better! I definitely wasn't as stressed. I was able to find my way around the maze of hospitals, parking garages, and color coded elevators without any problem.

We parked on the "Coral Level" of the parking garage and Tracey spent the night on the floor with the coral colored elevators. Is there anyone besides me that appreciates the irony of this?

Hmph. Maybe not.

Unfortunately my phone couldn't quite capture the assault to your visual senses that occured the moment the elevator doors opened.

Now, a short 2 weeks after the surgery, Tracey has noticed a remarkable difference in her arm. The swelling has decreased considerably and she can twist her wrist further than she's been able to for the past 2.5 years. It doesn't hurt as much when you squeeze or poke her arm.

God definitely answers prayers.

Kayaking on the Gila River

It is that wonderful time of year again, when the stars and planets have aligned just right....

...it's the time when all the heavy snowpack from the mountains starts to melt and the Gila River is flowing at it highest levels of the year. This year we've gotten an exceptional amount of snow in the mountains, which translates into higher than normal water levels on the river as it melts and starts to runoff.

That means my dear hubby has had water on the brain all spring. He is so excited, it's been fun to watch his excitement build. He and some friends are planning a weekend kayak trip on the Gila River.
This year his friend Nick and Nick's wife, Tawnya are going with him. I have an important job for this trip. I am the official babysitter. This past weekend they decided to do a trial run. I dropped them off near the Bird Sanctuary (close to Bill Evans Lake) and drove around to pick them up at Red Rock. They floated what is known as the Middle Box.
They had a blast! They encountered rapids bigger than they expected, but it only added excitement and adventure to their trip. At one point they hit some rapids that emptied into a big hole. Nick and Tawnya went for a swim and Aaron went into the hole backwards!

They had a fabulous time and are anxiously waiting for this weekend.

Galveston Island, TX

For Tracey's 13th birthday I thought it would be fun to drive down to Galveston Island and enjoy the sun and sand. We ended up renting a convertible Mustang which was a lot of fun. Tracey was happy enough to just drive around with the top down. The weather was gorgeous.
So maybe we were a little excited about our car. I can tell you that I loved driving it!
Okay, so now I'm showing just how country I am. I was so amazed at how many seashells there were. The ground was literally solid seashells.
Never before in my life have I seen a jellyfish in real life. Now I've seen lots of dead ones.

Happy 13th Birthday!!!
