Friendly Surprise

Yesterday was Tracey's first volleyball game at La Plata in Silver City. (No, I didn't take pictures, but I will soon!)

Tracey got a surprise when she saw one of the girls on the visiting team (Safford). It was one of her good friends, Rae who had moved to Safford last year.

I thought it was pretty neat for them to see eachother so I took a picture of the two of them after the game.

BTW, Tracey's team won.

Spelling Bee winners do NOT end up to be car salesmen!

Everyone is familiar with the "Cash For Clunkers" promotion. But here in Silver City we have a lesser known program, known as "Cash For Clukers".

** My apologies on picture quality. Tracey took it with my phone as we sped by the dealership. I so totally did not want to look like an idiot by actually stopping to look at this cluker!**

Smokey Bear

We've all heard of Smokey Bear right? Well, I don't know if many of you know where Smokey Bear originally came from, but he was found in the mountains near Capitan, NM. He was rescued by firefighters during a fire when he was found clinging to a tree with severely burned paws. He was treated for his burns and eventually went to live in the National Zoo in Washington, DC. Smokey lived to the ripe old age of 26 and died in 1976. His remains were returned to Capitan and he's buried in the Smokey Bear Historical Park.

We stayed the night in Capitan while we were attending the Lincoln County Fair for Tracey's pig show. We even stayed at the Smokey Bear Motel. We then ate at the Smokey Bear Restaurant where Kylee ordered the Smokey Bear Burrito for breakfast (and then refused to eat it). So of course we couldn't miss visiting the Smokey Bear Historical Park before we came home.

Smokey Bear is buried in this spot.

Let's go surfin' now, everybody's learnin' how...

Aaron and Tracey took surfing lessons while we were in San Diego. The surf shop was in La Jolla so that's where we spent most of our beach time. They had a blast and learned a lot. Surfing will definitely be added to our list of sports we enjoy together.

Some Pig

Tracey showed her pigs in the Lincoln County Fair yesterday. Actually, one of her pigs (Jasper)didn't make weight by 13 pounds because he had been sick a few weeks ago so she just showed one pig.

This was her first time showing and she did a great job. The judge also complimented her on her showmanship. Her pig (Emmett) got 3rd place in her class so Tracey was happy.

Congratulations Tracey! We are proud of you!!

***p.s. did anyone catch the Twilight references????

Lyna the Lizard

Every night when we say prayers, Kylee prays for her pet lizards (imaginary lizards). She asks God to feed them for her and take of them. I asked her once where her lizards lived and she told me that her lizards live at her friends' house (again, imaginary friends). Okay. So we pray for her lizards.
Well today she got a real live lizard. I went to clean out the toys in the girls' bathtub and found a lizard in the tub. (Yes, I am kind of embarassed to admit that I found a lizard in my house.) How it got there and how long it'd been there, I have no idea. We've been gone for the last 5 days.
So of course we caught the lizard and Kylee held her and watched her for quite a while and named her Lyna. I finally convinced her that Lyna would be much happier living in the bushes instead of in my ice tea pitcher. So Kylee finally decided to let Lyna go home. With much pomp and circumstance, Lyna crawled out of the pitcher and ran home into the bushes.

Sea World

Our vacation was great. Instead of inundating you with a single blog of a billion pictures, I'll spread it out over several blogs. That way I'll have plenty of blog material for a few days.
The first day we went to Sea World. We had such a great time. We caught most of the shows and stayed to see Shamu Rocks! and the fireworks afterward. I loved, loved Sea World.
Coming out of the Shark Encounter exhibit.
Gangsta' Krysten

Peek-a-boo!

Enjoying churros before the Dolphin show.
Kylee and a snow bear (we've read "The Three Snow Bears" too much, polar bears are now snow bears.)

The girls and Shamu.
Checking out the Shamu Believe show.
Believe it or not, we ran into someone from Silver City right after the show!
